The Combined Military Services Museum opened in July 2004. It was originally the personal collection of Richard Wooldridge. He later founded a charity to help raise money for the museum. In 2001, he found suitable property in Maldon, UK. The former bonded warehouse underwent extensive modifications. As a result of his efforts, the collection of the museum expanded significantly. In 2008, the museum added the Donnington Historic Weapons Collection.
